Students benefit from community arts practitioners

Students in Frazier SD and several other school districts in the region are benefitting from a partnership between local artists and their schools. The Rural Arts Collaborative Program places professional practicing artists in local schools for a temporary, usually year-long, tenure during which they teach students their art form. Lead teachers from participating schools work alongside the artists during the project-based learning experience. Students in the program have produced a variety of materials from mosaics to theater performances. Frazier students collaborated with students in two other nearby districts on a mosaic mural made of glass and ceramic tiles, which is displayed in the local community. The program emphasizes the importance of the arts in enhancing students’ ability to learn in all areas. To learn more, read the article in the Herald Standard.
