Community rallies to bring students the moon, planets

A two-year community fundraising effort has culminated in a new 2.4k planetarium laser projection system and lighting for Hollidaysburg Area High School. Although the school has had a planetarium since 1970, the system has been in disrepair since the mid-2000s. The school board proposed the fundraiser and pledged to double each dollar raised by the community up to $85,000, for a total of $170,00 paid for by the school board. The planetarium will open in the fall along with new curriculum that will present the study of solar systems, the earth and sciences in a whole new way to students in all grades in the school district.
