Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ballers fundraiser a success

The Hempfield Area School District Scholarship and Charitable Foundation Funds Committee hosted a basketball game fundraiser between the Steelers’ “ballers” and a team of high school boys’ varsity basketball players, teachers, and administrators. The Foundation Funds aid district students and teachers by providing support beyond what is available through state and local funding. Money from the Foundation Funds supports those initiatives that fall outside of the district budget; initiatives that would otherwise not be funded, student scholarships, educational grants, and special district projects. Since its inception in 2011, the committee has funded four scholarships, ten educational grants, and two special district projects.
