Hempfield High School students take home multiple awards at broadcasting 4-state competition

Hempfield High School received a special invitation to compete in the 4-State at the Academy of Scholastic Broadcasting on October 26-28, 2019. This is a two-day competition and collaboration held in Springfield, Missouri. Among the 400 participants were seven Hempfield High School Communication Technology students: Lauren Eager, Senior; Jase Gibbons, Senior; Paige Gruber, Junior; Ethan Miller, Senior; Abigail Minnich, Senior; Madeline Olson, Senior; Frank Russo, Senior.

Awards given to Hempfield include:
– All seven Hempfield students earned a “superior” ranking in the “Early Bird Madness” competition. This required students to come up with a concept film, all shot and edited within a 6 hour time period.
– All seven Hempfield students earned a first place award in the “76 Film Challenge”.
– Abby Minnich earned a first place award in “Edit the Scene” for her piece Varsity.
– Abby Minnich and Lauren Eager earned a second place award in the “Cinematographer Challenge”.
– Ethan Miller, Paige Gruber, Lauren Eager and Abby Minnich earned a second place award in “Finish the Film”.
