Students celebrate their success in raising money to bring water to people in Sudan.

Students in Mr. Josh Diffenbach’s sixth-grade class at Landisville Intermediate Center in Hempfield School District read the book, A Long Walk for Water, based on a true story by Linda Sue Park. After reading how far some people must walk to collect water, the students decided to make and sell string bracelets to raise money for an organization that provides access to drinking water to people in Africa. The students raised $302.92 for “Water for South Sudan” through this effort, which will get fresh, clean drinking water to 30 people in a South Sudan village.
