Jefferson-Morgan School District recently received a three-year $90,000 grant from Chevron that will enable increased STEM learning opportunities for students at the elementary, middle and high school levels next year. The grant will fund a partnership with the nonprofit “Project Lead the Way” which will provide computer science and engineering education for the district’s students. According to an article in the Observer-Reporter, the elementary level education will cover the basics of engineering and some sciences, the middle school level will include more detailed instruction on these, and the high school level will provide three career-focused courses in engineering design, civil engineering and architecture, and engineering design and development in addition to the district’s other STEM offerings.
