As part of the project, students held an open house, created a menu, uniforms and a logo, and practiced job skills such as taking and filling orders, cleanup, inventory, and managing the cash register. Students also learned valuable teamwork and social interaction skills while working together and interacting with customers. With the profits from their business, the class engaged in community-based learning experiences to practice life skills such as comparative shopping, using public transit, and ordering and purchasing lunches while staying within a budget.
