McClellan Elementary School first-graders dressed in their favorite pajamas and took a ride on the Polar Express for a day-long adventure filled with fun and learning activities on Thursday, December 20, 2018.

Each first-grade classroom was transformed into a Train Stop which included hands-on lessons relating to the Polar Express theme such as reading and story sequencing the Polar Express book, making snow, creating bell necklaces, making hot cocoa artwork and counting marshmallows, and of course, enjoying their very own hot cocoa and candy canes while they worked!

The students colored and decorated their boarding tickets as a special homework assignment so their tickets would be ready when they arrived at school. Before they headed to their next stop, they proudly displayed their boarding tickets for their teachers to punch as they moved along the train tracks to their next train stop. Kudos to the McClellan first-grade teachers for providing such creative and engaging learning opportunities, and huge thanks to Dunkin Donuts, Curry Hollow Center location, for their donations!
