New career and tech center links education, industry and the community

Conewago Valley School District has recently opened the doors of its brand-new 25,000-square-foot Colonial Career and Technology Center, an extension of New Oxford High School in Adams County. The facility was created to match workforce needs in the manufacturing sector to education being provided to students in the district, and contains $2.6 million in state-of-the-art equipment, most of which came from the community. In an article in USA Today, Superintendent Russell Greenholt stated, “the state Department of Labor and Industry says we’re the only high school in Pennsylvania to do this at this magnitude.” Programs offered range from materials and systems to trade training, as well as robotics and operating forklifts and backhoes. One unique section of the facility is the Colonial Innovation Center, a “think tank” space that features virtual reality and computer technology.
