Principles of Biomedical Science is a new courses at North Hills High School, designed to better prepare students for college and career success. The lab-based coursework follows the mysterious death of a fictitious character, Anna. While investigating Anna’s death, students play the roles of professionals within the interrelated biomedical sciences field. They examine autopsy reports, investigate the character’s medical history and explore medical treatments that might have prolonged her life. The course’s activities and projects introduce students to human physiology, basic biology, medicine and the research processes while allowing them to design their own experiments to solve problems. The course is created by Project Lead The Way.
