Many students attended the Engineering Night for Girls

North Penn School District (NPSD), in partnership with the Drexel University Society of Women Engineers (SWE), hosted Engineering Night for Girls on Feb. 7 from 7-9 p.m. at North Penn High School (NPHS). This innovative program offered NPSD students an opportunity to hear from five ambitious and well-accomplished female students in the Drexel Engineering Program. More than 70 female students in grades 7-9 participated in hands-on activities and small group discussions while learning about six different types of engineering including biomedical, civil, material, chemical, electrical and mechanical. “As I walked around, I observed our students making gliders, wiring circuits and even trying to tie their shoe laces using pliers!” said Ketty Kaminsky, NPSD curriculum supervisor. “It was wonderful to see the level of engagement, collaboration and ingenuity exhibited by our students.”
