Ten student teams from the North Penn School District competed in the Southeast Pennsylvania Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition on March 4 at Pennsbury High School East and West, Fairless Hills. OoTm is a creative problem-solving program in which teams of seven students select a problem, create a solution and present their solution in a regional tournament. Teams that place in the regional competition advance to States and those who place at States advance to World Finals. At this ultimate competition, over 800 teams from across the United States and around the globe compete to be crowned World Champions. 20 teams will be awarded this honor. Of the 10 NPSD teams that competed, six teams received medals and five teams advanced to the State Competition which will be held in April in Pittsburgh. Teams from Pennbrook, Penndale and Gwynedd Square earned second-place medals, and teams from North Wales and Montgomery earned first-place medals, earning all five teams a spot at the OotM PA State Competition. North Penn High School’s team won a third place medal at the regional competition.
