picture N Bedford Basic Math Fact CompetitionStudents in Northern Bedford Elementary School brushed up on their computational skills in preparation for the twice-annual Basic Math Fact Competition. Students from grade-level homerooms faced off in the contest which required students to respond to math questions with speed and accuracy. In November, grades 2 and 3 competed in additional facts and grades 4 and 5 competed with a mixture of addition and subtraction facts. In January, grades 2 and 3 tackled subtraction, while grades 4 and 5 handled multiplication. Winning homerooms in each grade competed against each other until an overall grade-level champion was named. Ice cream cups went to the victors and their pictures were displayed in the school’s library. Read more about the competition in the district’s newsletter.
