The fifth grade class at Guth Elementary participated in Alex’s Million Mile during September, raising funds and awareness for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. The goal was to collaboratively run, walk or cycle a million miles, going the distance for those who can’t. Guth students did their part every recess and even at home, walking or running 1,385 miles. They also raised $845, funding almost 17 hours of cancer research. Liz Scott, Alex’s mother, stopped by Guth on Oct. 10 to share with the students lessons learned from her daughter and other children, showing how kids can make a difference. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was started by a 4-year old little girl and has since raised over $150 million.
