Mr. Smoker explains the dynamics of how the trebuchet works.

Eighth-graders in Jamiel Smoker’s technology class built a 16-foot-tall trebuchet. The catapult was a collaborative effort of Pequea Valley Intermediate School students who volunteered a lot of study time and class time to researching, designing, developing and launching the medieval machine. The work spanned for over two months, and allowed the learners to gain a lot of hands-on skills as well as construction techniques that they otherwise would not have been able to learn in a normal classroom setting.
