Pleasant Hills Middle School Students Surpass Thanksgiving Food Drive GoalThe students at Pleasant Hills Middle School organize a Thanksgiving Food Drive every year to benefit the West Elizabeth Food Bank. Last year, they donated over 10,000 pounds of food to help the food bank assist local families at Thanksgiving and throughout the winter months. This year, the students surpassed their goal with almost 12,000 pounds of donated goods. The PHMS Student Council led the way for the food drive and helped to organize two events to benefit the drive: the Staff vs. Student volleyball game and the annual grade-level Pancake Breakfasts during homeroom periods. Students were admitted to these events by bringing two cans of food to each event. The school continued to collect food until Thursday, Nov. 8, and the food was delivered to the West Elizabeth food bank the following Friday, in time for Thanksgiving distribution.
