Fifth-graders start Newspaper Club, publish new school newspaper

Fifth-graders at Jefferson Hills Intermediate School expressed an interest in journalism and started their own Newspaper Club this year, with the help of teachers Amanda McWilliams and Megan Morgan. The dedicated group of students meets once a week during their recess period to work on the JHIS Paw Print Newspaper. Students cover a variety of topics and events, and recently published their premier edition. Recently they  welcomed a special guest reporter Stephanie Hacke, a local freelance reporter and TJ alumnus, who visited the students to speak about journalism and answer questions. Stephanie brought special reporter notebooks and pens for all of the budding journalists. The first edition of the Paw Print News is available to view on the JHIS website at: http://www.wjhsd.net/Downloads/PPN%20Volume%201.pdf
