South Eastern transforms library into makerspace

In the library at South Eastern Middle School students are doing more than checking out books. Tables have been arranged in groups so that students can work together on projects in the new “makerspace.” Whiteboards, computers, iPads, art supplies, sewing machines and a 3D printer are all additions to the space designed to provide opportunities for hands-on learning and project-based instruction. In addition to the technology available in the library, each student at South Eastern has a Chromebook, enabling them to do research from any location.

In addition to South Eastern SD, Central York SD and Dover Area SD are also working to incorporate more collaborative learning spaces in their libraries.
