South Fayette Intermediate Loves Birthdays!

Students in Ms. Vennero’s 3rd grade class recently visited Beverly’s Birthdays, an organization which provides assistance for children experiencing homelessness and for families in need. One of the main objectives of Beverly’s Birthdays is to ensure that children of all ages are recognized on their birthday, regardless of financial circumstances.

In November, the South Fayette Township School District conducted an initiative in the hopes of collecting party supply donations and gifts which were sent to this organization. Ms. Vennero’s class generously donated the most items, and received a V.I.P. tour of the facility located in North Huntingdon, PA.

The students in Ms. Vennero’s room were very excited to assist and to visit the Beverly’s Birthdays headquarters. Students participated in creating birthday bags for needy children. They spent a good portion of time sorting hundreds of items that were to be donated, broke down boxes that needed to be recycled, and assisted in creating custom birthday bags based on age and preference of the recipient. Students also enjoyed a lesson about generosity, and how it can impact others in a positive manner. Most importantly, students learned about the importance of helping others less fortunate than themselves. The trip was a complete success and beneficial to everyone involved!
