‘Squiggle Bots’ teach STEAM skills

Midland Borough School District  |  Posted on

“Squiggly” is an apt way to describe a recent educational experience at Midland Borough SD. Teacher Toni Marie Lawson was awarded a $1,000 Beaver County Educational Trust STEAM Walk grant to purchase materials to make “Squiggle Bots” — easy-to-build robots outfitted with markers that scribble as they wobble. Students constructed their own bots at the district’s STEAM Walk event held Feb. 28. The educational trust funds and encourages Beaver County schools to hold STEAM Walks as a way of fostering enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering, art and math and to help students develop skills in these areas.
