Students of all abilities from 15 school districts across the region are anxiously awaiting an unforgettable celebration. Students from Avonworth, Baldwin-Whitehall, Belle Vernon, Bethel Park, Carlynton, Chartiers Valley, Elizabeth Forward, Keystone Oaks, Moon, Peters Township, South Allegheny, South Fayette, Thomas Jefferson, Upper St. Clair, and Washington school districts are gathering together on May 1 for the big event. 17 students from Baldwin High School will join around 200 students from the area for this special time. This year, The Gateway Clipper will host the S.T.A.R.S. Prom.

The formal extravaganza celebrates the individuality of all students while promoting inclusion and awareness. The S.T.A.R.S. Prom originated more than a decade ago when seven participating school districts hosted the event in one of their high school’s gymnasium. Since then, the evolution of the S.T.A.R.S. Prom has doubled in size and has also included hosts such as Pirate Charities, PNC Park, Belle Sera, and the Omni William Penn Hotel. The educators involved in the event liberally give their time and efforts as part of a committee specifically designed to plan, facilitate, and create a memorable occasion for every student in attendance.
