United Elementary School’s P.R.I.D.E. program (Positive attitude, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Excellence) is a school-wide approach to keep school safe while promoting positive behavior. The key to the program is prevention, not punishment. Students learn about behavior, just as they learn about subjects like math or science. Staff members all over the building look for students showing exemplary behaviors which are rewarded with a P.R.I.D.E. ticket. Tickets are placed on the “Principal’s 200 Club” board and the recipients receive small incentive prizes. Students are also recognized during the morning announcements and their parent/guardian receives a call regarding their child’s positive behavior. The P.R.I.D.E. program is a way to teach, acknowledge, and promote appropriate student behavior and its positive influence on the United community.
