Las-Chicas-JudgingStudents enrolled in Mrs. McCauley’s 8th grade Family Consumer Science class met with Las Chicas local food truck owners, Stephanie and Amanda Morales, to learn more about the food truck industry. The FCS students were tasked with becoming entrepreneurs and starting their own Food Truck business, so they were eager to meet the Las Chicas owners and ask them questions about their successful Food Truck now in its fourth year of operation. Students worked in teams to create their food truck business plan complete with truck and logo design, full menu with pricing, and promotional plan. Students unveiled their Food Trucks with specially-designed menus, cookbooks and samplings of their menu items. Stephanie and Amanda Morales of Las Chicas returned as judges and taste testers with other PHMS staff to review and critique the students’ Food Truck business. Mrs. McCauley instructed each judge to cast a ballot for their favorite food truck. Winning teams had the opportunity to tour the inside of the Las Chicas Food Truck and get a first-hand look at their operation.
