Middle schoolers compete in stop-motion animation competition

wellsboro stop motion competitionTwo seventh-grade students at Rock L. Butler Middle School took second place in middle school animation competition at the BLaST IU 17 Regional Computer Fair at Penn College in May. Alyssa Bisbing and Mackayla Patterson won the ranking with their stop-motion animation “Wild World of Sports 101.” Students were required to submit a narrative description or project summary with a list of software applications used to create the projects and any additional equipment. The contest was just part of the Regional Computer Fair, which included more than 100 projects from 170 students in grades 3-12. In addition to animation, categories also included computer fair logo, digital movie, graphic design, programming and web page design. The event is designed to encourage the development of application skills and computer knowledge as well as creativity and dynamic communication. First-place winners competed in the state competition at Dickinson College on May 22-23.
