To wrap-up a donation drive to benefit the Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, students from special education teachers Del Park and Jamie Smith’s classes celebrated with a holiday-themed lunch and showcased all the donations they helped bring in – a total of 494.

The donations were made in honor of Team B Strong – named for a Bald Eagle Area student who has been a longtime patient at the hospital. The items will likely be delivered after the New Year with the hope that the BEA student and his family can be a part of distributing them to other children in the hospital.

Inspired by the classic Christmas movie and book, this year’s theme for the collection was the Polar Express and to prove that “the bell still rings for all who truly believe” – in making a difference, Smith said.

“Anybody can make a difference as long as they believe the can – and they do,” Smith said.
