Clarion County Career Center wins state award

Clarion County Career Center has been named a recipient of the 2017 Career & Technical Education (CTE) Excellence Award presented by PA Department of Education. Deputy Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education Matthew Stem announced the award at a February event in Hershey during the Pathways to Career Readiness: An Education and Workforce Development Symposium.
The Career Center was one of only 13 Pennsylvania schools to receive this award.  To qualify for the CTE Excellence Award, a school must have at least 75% of its students achieve a score at the Advanced level in the NOCTI exams. NOCTI exams assess student technical competence and encompass written and practical components, to evaluate the skills a student has learned in their program of study.
In a recent news release from the PA Department of Education, Pedro A. Rivera, education secretary, stated, “Pennsylvania’s business, industry and education leaders recognize there is no single path to success after high school, schools must be able to prove they are preparing students with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to succeed. Schools are preparing students for the high-tech, high-skill and in-demand careers here in the commonwealth. The programs that the Department of Education is recognizing with this award of excellence are preparing Pennsylvania students for success and ensuring our state’s workforce is strong.”
