Students learn about becoming firefighters in visit by Harmonville firefighters

At Plymouth Elementary School, first graders have been exploring different careers, and recently, students in Mrs. Wilson’s and Mrs. Chubb’s classes received a visit from two members of Harmonville Fire Company. Deputy Chief Andy Moletzsky and fellow firefighter Aaron Voegtli talked about what they do on the job and gave the students tips in case there was a fire in their home. Many children want to be firefighters when they grow up, and Deputy Chief Moletzsky explained how that turned into a reality for him. Mr. Voegtli put on all his firefighter gear to show the children how different he looks wearing his big coat, boots, helmet and breathing mask in order to encourage the students not to be afraid of someone wearing the full kit. “It’s always fun to be able give back and teach kids what we’ve learned,” said Mr. Voegtli. “Knowledge is power, and you can never share enough of it, especially with young kids.” In addition to being firefighters, Mr. Moletzsky and Mr. Voegtli each have a child in one of the classes.
