Community works together to teach students arts

The Adopt An Artist program at Fairview Middle School teaches students about various arts in various mediums and settings. The program is run by a volunteer group of parents, teachers, administrators and community members who teach students about the value of education in the arts. Art by students and local artists cover the walls of the school. But the school also has an Arts Courtyard for art displays, performance and teaching.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to travel and study art.  Fifth- and sixth-grade students travel to art museums to study artists like Picasso, and seventh-graders tour the architecture of the Buffalo. Finally, eighth-grade students visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to study music. The students now have a deeper understanding of culture and history and new opportunities for creativity and teamwork.
