Council Rock SD honored Martin Luther King Jr. on its 12th annual CR CARES Day. As part of the activities, which focus on community service, students gathered items for charitable donation that they had collected during a 10-day drive. Sixth- and eighth-grade students assemble the packages at Council Rock High School South for delivery to local identified shelters, soup kitchens and agencies in Bucks County. CR CARE packages included: snacks, magazines, small entertainment items, hygiene items, baby items, gift cards and more. Money for the project was also raised through a dress-down day in December on which district staff donated funds in exchange for dressing more casually. On Jan. 15, the district also held a MLK Day celebration where winners of a student essay contest were announced and presented their essays on the topic of what “A Day On” means. CR CARES Day is one of the many ways the district and community come together to capture a sense of giving, community and service.
