Freshman at Jim Thorpe Area High School participated in a unique activity designed to educate them on the district’s School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (SWPBIS) program. SWPBIS, and the so-named club at the high school, aim to promote and reward students’ positive behavior. As part of the initiative, the club held an activity to help freshmen understand the tenets of TORCH: Teamwork, Organization, Responsibility, Choices, Honor. TORCH represents the desirable attributes students should strive to emulate. Club members taught students the Alma Mater and led group games focused on teamwork, among other activities. The club hopes to re-create the event next year due to positive feedback from participating students. For more on the activity see the online student newspaper, The Olympiad.
