Google’s CS First Roadshow visits PA school

Students in Snyder-Girotti Elementary/Middle School got some extra-special attention from Google in April. The school was one of 40 Google employees visited this year as part of the CS (Computer Science) First Roadshow, a program that introduces coding and related skills to elementary students. Snyder-Girotti is one of only two schools in Pennsylvania that the program has visited since its inception in 2016. An article in the Doylestown Intelligencer says Google presenters guided fourth- through sixth-graders in an exercise where they used the programming language called Scratch on their Chromebooks to create an “Adventure on the High Seas” story with moving waves and characters with dialog bubbles. Also during the visit U.S. Sen. Bob Casey talked to the students about the importance of having computer science skills and participated in the coding exercise with them.
