Students place fourth in international competition

Neshaminy High School’s Future Problem Solving Team, comprised of seniors Catelyn Ballard, Jessa Raab, Rachel Hoenisch and Justin Harnishfeger, bested 54 state and international champions to place fourth at the Future Problem Solvers World Championship in La Crosse, WI.  The Future Problem Solving Program International (FPSPI) teaches students to find solutions based on a six-step model: identify challenges related to the topic or future scene, select an underlying problem, produce solution ideas to the underlying problem, generate and select criteria to evaluate solution ideas, evaluate solution ideas, and develop an action plan. Neshaminy’s team competed in the Global Issues competition during which competitors research a series of global topics and use the six-step process to address and imagined situation. To prepare during the school year, they practiced solving problems and doing activities under the guidance of coach Joe Pimble. Other competitors included students from countries such as Australia, China, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Turkey and the United States.
