Groups of students at Port Matilda Elementary School took turns on Nov. 1 sitting at a picnic table participating in a doughnut-eating contest. That was just one of many activities students participated in during the school’s annual Harvest Festival that aimed to celebrate the fall season. It also included street hockey, crafts, a tour through a haunted classroom and more. Students were also able to take hayrides. Principal Terri Kenny said a former school employee, Charles Cowan, who also owns a local farm, offers his services to drive kids in a wagon for hayrides.
