Homer Center students Lead the Way

Homer-Center School District  |  Posted on

Homer Center SD is implementing a nationally recognized curriculum based on STEM education called Project Lead the Way. Students in the hands-on program learn science skills and soft skills such as identifying problems and solutions, testing, working collaboratively and other skills. Students have already benefitted from programs in robotics and automation and design and modeling, and next year “medical detectives” — a biology-related offering – will be added. Students use their creativity to create and improve systems and ask questions. Because the learning is teacher-guided and student-led, it increases students’ confidence in addition to other skills. The program was funded by a grant from the William Penn Foundation. Watch a video to learn more.
