Madelyn Bailey named Miss BEA

Maddy Bailey, a junior at Bald Eagle Area High School, was named Miss BEA. She was among a group of 10 students nominated by her peers. The title allows her to represent the school around the district and community.
After the students are nominated, they were then required to participate in assemblies where they answered questions on-the-spot and gave speeches. Bailey’s message was about Bald Eagle Area being more than a school, but a family. It was a speech she said came from the heart.

“I feel good about mine because I made it exactly who I am,” she said. “With my speech – I’m very much a person who writes how they talk – so I sat down and started writing. … Being involved in (unified) bocce definitely helped. With bocce, everyone is such a big family and that’s exactly how I feel toward Bald Eagle.”

You can find her this summer and fall at local parades in Snow Shoe, Pleasant Gap and Renovo.

“I love talking to people and being kind – that’s what I enjoy most – and it gave me an opportunity to do that, so I’m excited to now get out in the community,” Bailey said.
