‘Baggie Books’ promote literacy in Solanco SD

Kindergarten students in Solanco SD are getting a literacy boost in the form of Baggie Books. Funded by the Solanco Education Foundation, the program sends stacks of books home with the students in sturdy bags. The initiative aims to increase emerging literacy skills by encouraging extra reading time out of the classroom. According to an article in LNP, the program is based on research that shows that the size of a home library affects the educational success of students in that home.
