Students engage in hands-on learning of Civil War

History lessons came to life for Forbes Road High School students when the North-South Skirmish Association of Allegheny Region performed a historical military demonstration for them. The students got to experience a cannon firing, after learning the history of cannons and cannonballs. Furthermore, they got up close with Civil War-era weapons and clothing. The students even got the chance to try “hardtack,” a popular ration eaten by soldiers in the Civil War.
